While the Statement of Attainment does not expire, it is recommended that Chief Fire Wardens refresh their training every 2 years to maintain compliance with best practice and evolving workplace procedures.

This course is ideal for assigned or new Chief Wardens, Deputy Wardens, WHS officers, supervisors, safety personnel, and anyone responsible for leading emergency responses in the workplace.
In Australian workplaces, the Chief Fire Warden hat colour is typically white, helping to distinguish the Chief Warden from other emergency roles during an evacuation. This standard follows the guidelines of AS 3745-2010, which recommends colour-coded helmets or hard hats to clearly identify roles within the Emergency Control Organisation (ECO). By completing the PUAFER006 Chief Fire Warden course, you’ll understand not only your responsibilities during an emergency but also how visual identifiers like hat colour support efficient coordination and control onsite.
Yes – you can complete both PUAFER005 Fire Warden and PUAFER006 Chief Fire Warden units in a single session. Our combo course provides comprehensive ECO training and saves you time and money!
According to Australian Standard AS 3745-2010, a Chief Fire Warden wears a white hat, helmet, or vest. This helps building occupants and emergency services quickly identify the person responsible for leading the Emergency Control Organisation (ECO) during an emergency.
Colour coding allows for quick visual identification of emergency roles. It ensures occupants can find the right person for directions or assistance during evacuations and allows emergency services to coordinate with the ECO efficiently.
While AS 3745-2010 recommends these colour standards, workplaces should ensure they follow their site-specific emergency plans and provide the appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for wardens to comply with the standard.
